1) I'm a procrastinator. Like, a really, really bad one. I know. I'm sorry.

2) I'm hosting a podfic listening party at wincon this year. (I know, that's just over a week away. I'm terrible. Shut up.) I have some podfics in mind that I know I want to include, but I don't want it to just be my taste/my fandoms/etc. If you have any recs, I'd love to hear them!

The listening party is only 50 minutes, so in the interest of hearing a diverse range of voices and fandoms, I'm looking primarily at podfics around 5 minutes long, give or take a couple minutes. All fandoms, pairings, and ratings are welcome. If you know of a short podfic that you think represents everything awesome about podfic in general, or a specific reader, or podfic in a particular fandom, please tell me about it in the comments! Fandoms I don't listen in very much that I'd especially love some recs for include: Bandom (including AI), Glee, SPN RPF, Teen Wolf, and The Social Network. I also want to make sure to include new favorites and old standbys like the Avengers, Harry Potter, SGA, and (of course) Supernatural. I know where to look & have some ideas in mind for those, but again, diversity rules. 

When I first submitted the idea to wincon, I thought I'd be all organized and on top of things (stop laughing), and that I'd try to model it after the vid party - which meant including one or two premieres. Now there's obviously not nearly enough time to ask someone to record something brand new for next week, but, that said...if you are interested in premiering a short podfic at the podfic listening party, just let me know.

Maybe this weekend I'll have the energy to type up an actual report. I've barely had time to breathe since I got back. This is the first unscheduled block of time I've had since I got off the plane on Sunday.

Which reminds me, I represented podfic at the Fan Art panel! I took two things away from that experience: 1) There really, really needs to be a dedicated podfic panel next year, and 2) It would have been really awesome to hear from some more visual medium fan artists. I love the diverse range of artistic expression in fandom. 

Question: do you think a podfic listening party would work at wincon? I'm thinking it could be kind of like the vid party, with <5 minute podfics from multiple fandoms. 

Okay, I seriously have to go feed myself now. If I start daydreaming about podfic, I'll never get off the couch.

I'm back in the real world after an amazing weekend at Wincon.

Things that ruled about Wincon:
1) Roommates. cantarina1 and nwhepcat, thank you. You're awesome.
2) Trickster viewing party.
3) JDM viewing party.
4) Watching SPN in a room full of fangirls.
5) Group singalong. Kenny Rogers. Really.
6) Oh #wincon
7) Panels. So much fun.
8) The vid show.
9) Bad Fic Idol. Also, walking down the hallway after Bad Fic Idol, trying not to meet the eyes of the Class of 1955 high school reunion members who were having their own event across the hall, and probably hadn't counted on hearing any dolphin porn or graphic, creative depictions of skull fucking that weekend.
10) Winprom.

12) Seriously, Winprom. The dresses, the dancing, the glowsticks, and yes, more group singalong. It was inspiring. I mean that in the most sincere, least ironic way possible.
13) The Roadhouse.

15) Fangirls. I met some great people, and again with the sincerity, being there with all those amazing women was genuinely inspiring.

On a less inspiring note, I have to leave for work. Sigh.
